Romancing the Genres: Laughter

Romancing The Genres is a collaboration of writers (from newbies to multi-published authors) who write in many different sub-genres and each bringing a unique perspective to not only their own stories but to their perception of Romance. Over the years hybrid authors have been added to the mix—who write both fiction and non-fiction. But I’m the first contributor who is 100% non-fiction. I wouldn’t know how to write a fictional romance novel, but just because I don’t write fiction, doesn’t mean I can’t write about romance.

Each month the site owners set a prompt, and although it’s use is not mandatory I like the idea of writing to a prompt and seeing what evolves in my article. The April prompt is Laughter, and I wrote about the importance of laughter as a coping mechanism related to my Mum’s dementia.

Laughter as a Coping Mechanism by Jay Artale

My guest posts are scheduled for the last Wednesday of each month, so please visit Romancing the Genres to read my article and check out the other articles written in response to the prompt for Laughter. While you’re there, please leave a comment to show support for this fabulous collective of writers.

Do you use laughter as a coping mechanism? See how I used it, in my monthly column for Romancing the Genres. Share on X
