Not bad going. We’ve only been in Portugal for 2 months, and I’ve already been invited to be the featured artist in Relish Portugal, the English language food and culture magazine for Portugal lovers everywhere. It’s an amazing magazine packed full of gorgeous photos, tips and information about Portuguese food and drinks, and an introduction to the food culture in in Portugal.
In my edition there’s a delicious article that introduces us to Portuguese cheeses – which is really timely, because we’re in the process of trying to navigate the broad variety of cheese which are available here, and there’s the 31 Days of Tomatoes article, detailing different serving and recipe ideas. Cheese and tomatoes – a winning combination in my book!
There’s also an article about harvesting sea salt in Olhãu. We have salt flats between us and Tavira, and we also cycled past some just outside Fuseta, so it was interesting to get a better understanding of the process.
Each contributor is asked to submit a recipe, and mine was my favourite Feta crusted Olives.
The recipe for savory french toast using tomatoes, sounds interesting, and I’m going to give that a try.
Here’s my Contribution to Relish Portugal
We always love exploring the local produce markets whenever we travel, and being in Portugal is no different. We have a small local market in Cabanas, and a bigger market in Tavira. The sketch below was to herald the mighty tomatoes available here, that are full of flavour.
