Fabrica Beach is part of Sitio da Fabrica village, and located adjacent to Cacela Velha on the Cacela Peninsula. There’s a 1km expanse of white sand beach that you reach via one of the water taxis crossing the Ria Formosa.
We discovered this area of the coastline during our bike ride from Cabanas to Manta Rota. We took the main road there, but on the way back we went via the quieter back road that led us past Cacela Velha and we took a short detour left to Fabrica.
We weren’t prepared for a beach day, so we had to ogle the beach from the mainland. It looked like tranquility personified, and the kind of beach you wouldn’t have any problem finding an area of seclusion.
Taxi Boat to Fabrica Beach
There’s a slope leading down to the ferry boats, just past the sign with a timetable. A return trip is 1 Euro, and the times of the service vary each month which runs from May to October (inclusive).
Restaurant at Fabrica
There’s a restaurant on the mainland, and the only one in that area. So if you go to the beach for the day and didn’t pack a picnic, you’ll need to travel back to the mainland to eat at the seafood Restaurant Marisqueira.
We haven’t eaten there, but it gets a 3/5 review on Trip advisor. It has a broad mix of 5 star and 1 star reviews. So visit for yourself and make your own mind up—or pack a picnic.
We can’t want to come back here and spend a day at the beach…I’ll let you know.
