Continuous Line Self-Portrait

Self Portrait Continuous line Sketch

I was looking for some smiling face photos to participate in an ATC swap, and came across an old photo of me with a big smile on my face. So I used the source photo to create this continuous line sketch.

Sometimes you just need to get away from what you’re sketching and do a blind contour or continuous line sketches to get out of your own way creatively.

I used to love doing continuous line sketches as a warm-up exercise before starting a sketching session. They’re a great way to get away from the need for perfectionism. I think I’m going to have to get back into this habit.

  1. Continuous Line Self is a concept in art where the artist creates a drawing using a single, continuous line without lifting the pen or pencil from the paper. This technique is often used to create simple yet expressive images, emphasizing the flow and movement of the line. The result is a unique and engaging artwork that captures the viewer’s attention with its fluidity and simplicity. Artists often use Continuous Line Self to explore the connection between their hand movements and their thoughts, allowing for a spontaneous and intuitive creative process.
