Cabanas Market Man Deliveries
I’ve been trying to capture this market man for about a year now, as he navigates the village on his rickety bike to deliver fruit and vegetables to the local restaurants.
He’s an iconic sight as he peddles slowly the wrong way up our cobbled street. The slight include means he wavers at a snails pace, and this week I was able to capture him a couple of times with a loose-line pen sketch. And then finished the sketch off with watercolour.
Slice of Life
When I first started sketching people, I was primarily focused on capturing photo-realistic likeness of my subjects. But over time, I’ve realised that what I really like to capture a moment in time. I want to depict a slice of life seen through my eyes. Nothing in this sketch is perfect, except that it perfectly depicts a memorable moment from village life.
Cabanas is a tourist destination, but I love that village life is alive and well, and we still have mundane moments like this to anchor our day to day.
